Mint Madness

I did promise you that I would be doing a series of posts on floral outfits and this one is special because I'm actually wearing pants. LOL! I just could not resist the lovely mint color and I had to buy a pair. Now that it is officially spring, you can get floral tops, skirts, Ts all over the place. I bought a nice black top to complement the mint colored pants. Paired with two toned heels and a cross body bag, I was ready to go.

Initially, I wanted to do a multiple outfit post by using the flowered top in two ways. But doing one shoot was tiring enough that I decided to save that look for another day. Don't forget to check my lucky owl necklace - again in mint :). Now if you are all about the flower power like me, you can go crazy with the floral accessories. Please note the flower bracelet and flower cutouts on my bag. If it is too much for you, then skip the flowers and go for simpler accessories.

Do the Polka

Who doesn't love polka dots ? You can never have enough of them. So here I am, posting my first polka dot outfit. Frankly speaking I am surprised it took me so long. Its been a year since I started the blog and so it was high time I introduced this classic look. The photo shoot was really hard since the weather kept playing hide and seek with me; cloudy and rainy with bursts of sunshine in between. I had paired this pretty dress with a very feminine frilly mustard winter coat. Unfortunately those pictures did not make the cut. :(

Back to the look, this simple dress is a great canvas for experimentation. You can wear it with boots, flats, a cardigan or a jacket. Navy blue compliments so many colors, and you can try really bold contrasting colors like pink, white and yellow for your outerwear. Check out my Rock n Republic heels. Aren't the ankle straps just divine ? While I'm rhapsodizing on the shoes, maybe you could pull out your favorite polka dot outfit (I'm pretty sure everyone has one) and wear it soon?

If you are one of those people who doesn't like polka dots, well, give them another chance. You never know..

Mayan princess

This year is all about length - maxis, long skirts and jumpers are so on trend and I could not be more excited. I do love my short skirts but nothing beats the dreaminess of a long flowing gown. Sigh! In today's post I shopped my closet and put together a look that is very resort fashion but can be worn to a weekend brunch or a trip to your nearest boardwalk. Whatever you prefer. With this look I feel like I am channeling my inner Mayan princess. The skirt is long and has this striking black and white aztec print that pairs beautifully with the plain white crop top. Add in a fringe necklace and a tight low pony tail to push it to a new level of elegance. Since the look is so monochromatic what better way to add a pop of color than a bright red lip ? Do let me know what you think ?

Celebrity Style - Taylor Swift

Its been a while since I did a celebrity style post and when I thought of it, the only name that kept popping in my head was Taylor Swift. She has been having phenomenal success with her latest album 1989 and you can barely go out anywhere without having a T swift song blaring in the background.

And I do love her music. Her past albums had a strong teenage sound but the music on this album is more mainstream pop and has more depth that her previous efforts. Anyways getting back to fashion, Taylor has the most girly girl sense of style. She is always wearing something cute and adorable that just screams "I am a girl, and love being a girl, so there!".

I chose this outfit because it is so easy to re-create and will not cost you a bomb.

White Lace Dress: The original is from Free People and retails at $128. But you can get s similar one at Sears for a bargain price of $33.99. If not satisfied try some other options here and here

Brown Heels: Booties have been such a rage this winter. So its not surprising that open toed sandals that look like booties are the rage this spring. If you want to replicate the exact look, then try the NineWest option, but if you are looking for a less expensive alternative try Payless.

Over-sized Beige Cardigan: I am sure most of you have this in your wardrobe. If you don't, then Sheinside has a lovely collection. Again, if you want a more wallet friendly option, I would recommend Forever 21

Hairband: Its spring time and a hairband is a perfect accessory to a floral outfit. If you don't have one, you can buy it here

Lipstick: Last but not least, you cannot forget Taylor's signature red lip. She has also sung about it in her latest single. You can rock you favorite red lipstick or try out this lovely shade - Perfect Red from NYX.
